  • By now, you've probably heard that big changes are coming to the MBTA bus system as part of their Bus Network Redesign (BNR) project. The MBTA is implementing the first phase of changes in December, and Everett, Malden, and Chelsea will be among the first communities to see service improvements!

109: increase frequency and service hours of Route 109 (Everett-Harvard) and extend the route west past Sullivan Station to Harvard Square, nearly tripling service along this route.

116, 117: combine Routes 116 and 117 into a Frequent Bus Route, the new Route 116 (Wonderland – Maverick).

110: increase the frequency and hours of Route 110 (Wellington – Wonderland), doubling the amount of service.

104: double service on Route 104 (Malden – Airport) and redirect it to Bellingham Square and Airport Station, creating a new, frequent connection from Malden and Everett to Chelsea and East Boston.

Now, the MBTA is working on creating new bus lanes, building bus stops, and hiring more drivers to support these changes. Please note that routes and timetables will be available closer to December.
